I am not a "gym" or exercise type of person. It takes a lot for me to get motivated to exercise and then stick to it, which is why once I get going I feel like I can never stop. Taking a break from the gym sounds so scary because I may get "out of the habit"
But there are times when it's ok to skip the gym without feeling guilty….in fact there are times you should skip the gym! Sounds crazy I know but it's true.
For instance, I have had a terrible cold/flu bug and so I did take a few days off. If you're just slightly sick a light workout can make you feel a little bit better, but if you've got a bad cold or the flu, you'll just run yourself down more.
Also if you are really sore from a previous workout, it's beter to give yourself a recovery day. You can do something lighter like take a walk.
