I feel like loving myself is one of the hardest things to do. It’s not that I believe I’m a terrible person, but I am pretty critical of myself. It’s been that way my whole life, unfortunately, so it’s tough to teach an old dog new tricks.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally about showing your love for someone- your spouse, your kids and your family. But what about you? Maybe this year you should take some time to love yourself. It’s not selfish to take care of yourself, to treat yourself, and to focus on yourself. In fact it’s actually a very good thing. If you love yourself you’re happier and can bring more to others in your life.
I mean how many times have you been in a bad mood and then felt like it’s affected the others in your life. It’s true. What you put out into the world is what comes back. I know when I’m tired, or cranky, or just down, it even affects the dog! It sounds funny but he knows when I’m not myself and will sit right next to me in an attempt to “cheer me up”.
When I’m having a great day not only do I have more energy but I notice it will rub off on the rest of my family. They are more light hearted and energetic if I am. I feel like I am the captain of our ship when it comes to this. I think the phrase is- ” if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”!
