One of the things I struggle with as a working mom, and I’m sure I’m not alone is self-care. I thought self care was just taking a shower and putting on some deodorant but it is much more than that and it is crucial to live your best and fullest life. If you don’t take the time to care for you, you’ll struggle trying to take care of the people you love.
So if self care is not just hygiene…..what is it? It’s your relationship and connection to self. It means you know what you need to be your most constructive, effective and authentic self. This is great at home but it’s also key in job performance. Physical health is definitely part of the equation, but care of mind, emotions, relationships, time and resources are also a part of the bigger picture.
Many women struggle with self care because it can feel unattainable or overwhelming and they end up beating themselves up for not achieving their “ultimate self”. Self care isn’t meant to add work to your plate, it is just an intention to stay connected to yourself and your mission- at home and also at work.
There are some great ways you can weave self care into your workday….check them out here.
