Winter festivals, food, and frozen fun!

Start your weekend with a chocolate tasting in the Crooked Tree Arts Center Kitchens. Then enjoy some frost fun in Gaylord! Northern Michigan's largest cross country ski event kicks off on Saturday morning in Mancelona, Foodies can learn and taste their way through a great event at the Hagerty center, and the village of Walloon welcomes you to Winterfest!

7th Annual Alpenfrost in Gaylord
Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2nd and 3rd
Fridays events at 6pm include the Burning of the Boog and live entertainment. Saturday includes the world's largest hot cocoa break, a Soup cook-off, frosty 5k run, kids activities, a greet and skate with “Frozen” characters, the Frosty plunge, Michigan Beer and Wine festival and more.

42nd annual White Pine Stampede
Saturday, February 3rd, 9:30am, Mancelona High School
This cross country ski race features 10k, 20k, and 50k courses that stretch between Mancelona and Bellaire. Registration fee through Thursday is $85, Feb. 2-3, $95. The 50K race starts at 9:30, the 20k at 10:30, and the 10k at 11:30. The Shorts Brewing Co. Cool Down Party and awards ceremony happens at 1:30 in the Summit Center at Shanty Creek Resort. Festival of Foods
Saturday, February 3rd, 10am-3pm, Hagerty Center, Traverse City
Area chefs and specialty food shops dish up cooking tips and techniques while you enjoy samples. Each hour highlights 4 workshops-you select your favorite 4 out of 16 options. Tickets are $89 at nmc.edu.

Walloon Winterfest
Saturday, February 3rd, noon-5pm, Village of Walloon
There will be games, prizes, and food and drink specials at area restaurants, plus the Petoskey Snowmobile Club will be serving free bean soup.
