Stone skipping, Spring cleaning, fine art and finer food!

This weekend you can celebrate the Petoskey stone in Eastport, or do a good deed and help clean the Boardman River. There’s historical fun at Sleeping Bear Dunes, or head to Leland to watch artists create fine works of art before your eyes! Then on Sunday, get a taste of the best Bay Harbor has to offer, all to help area veterans!
 
Antrim County Petoskey Stone Festival, Saturday, May 26th, Barnes Park, Eastport

Boardman River Clean Sweep, Saturday, May 26th, 9am-3pm, Boardman River Nature Center, TC
Spend a day with other volunteers helping clear the Boardman river of trash. Then, afterwards, enjoy a picnic at the Oleson Pavilion. Learn more and sign up at natureiscalling.org
 
Glen Haven Days, Saturday, May 26th, 10am-4pm
This event is held both at the Glen Haven historic village and the US Life Saving Service Station at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Empire. There will be hands-on activities and costumed re-enactments, blacksmith forge demonstrations, a fully stocked General Store, a hands-on “Shipwreck rescue” and more. All free with your park pass. Plein Air Painting Event, Saturday, May 26th, Old Art Building, Leland
From 10am to 4pm, artists can be found painting in and around Leland, capturing images of Fishtown, and area orchards, vineyards and beaches. Then, from 6-7:30, a reception and sale of these paintings will take place, with artists donating 40% of sales to the Old Art Building.
 
Taste of Bay Harbor, Sunday, May 27th, Noon to 3pm
Bay Harbor chefs will provide a tasting menu featuring specialties from their restaurants on the Marina Lawn in the Village at Bay Harbor, with complimentary summer refreshments, and live music by the Galactic Sherpas. There will also be an exciting collection of vintage military vehicles displayed on Main Street in the Village.  Tickets are only $25.00, and proceeds from this event will benefit Military Veterans in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties.
