Cars, Crafts, and Great Deals, plus the annual walk across the Mighty Mac!

There’s a lot to do for the long holiday weekend…starting with plenty of chances for great shopping! There are sidewalk sales in Glen Arbor, Alden, and Harbor Springs, and you’ll find one-of-a-kind art in Elk Rapids. Car enthusiasts can find lots of shiny, beautiful rides in Boyne City on Saturday. Runners can compete in a race that offers spectacular views of the Leelanau peninsula on Sunday, and then, on Monday, it’s time for the annual trek across the Mackinac Bridge!

Elk Rapids Arts and Crafts Show, Saturday, September 1st, 10am-4pm,                                  Downtown Elk Rapids
This is Elk Rapids’ last craft show of the season, featuring more than 70 artisans with their works on display and for sale. Boyne Kiwanis Car Show, Saturday, September 1st, 8am-4pm, Veterans Memorial Park, Boyne City
This show features 21 registration classes with oldies music and drawings for door prizes throughout the day. There will also be food concessions on-site. Vineyard to Bay 15 and 5k, Sunday, September 2nd, 8am
This race features spectacular views, and offers 15k or 5k point to point options. Participants will park at West Bay Shore Village in Suttons Bay. Buses will then transport runners to the starting points. Get more info at vineyard2bay15k.com
 
Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk, Labor Day, September 3rd
New for 2018, people can start their Mackinac Bridge Walk from either end of the Mighty Mac and there will be no busses traveling across the bridge during the walk. People may begin the walk anytime between 7AM and 11:30AM, and walk as much of the bridge as they are able before the bridge reopens to traffic at noon. Walkers wishing to walk the whole length of the span must cross the halfway point by 10am. For more details, go to http://www.mightymac.org/bridgewalk.htm
