Art and wine, stargazing, and a cookout are just a few of your options for this weekend!

 Just because we’ve passed the unofficial end of Summer doesn’t mean there’s any lack of things to do….this weekend is FULL of great events. Start your weekend with a walk through great art in Downtown Traverse City. Runners can participate in the Harvest Stompede on Saturday, and even the non-athletic can enjoy the post-race wine tour. There’s the annual cookout at NCMC on Sunday, or bring the family to the Music House in Acme for a day full of activities!
 
Downtown TC Art Walk, Friday, September 7th, 5-9pm, Downtown Traverse City
Enjoy art, food, music and more on a self-guided tour downtown. Walking maps are available at each location, and the downtown TC office. Learn more at dttc.com
 
 
Harvest Stompede 5k/7 mile trail run/walk, Saturday, September 8th
Race through Leelanau’s vineyards starting at Ciccone Vineyard in Suttons Bay, followed by a self-guided tour along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. Tickets for the wine tour are $40 and include a souvenir glass and featured wine and food pairings at each winery. Wine tour tickets are available at lpwines.com. “Find Your Park” After Dark: Summer Star Party, Saturday, September 8th, 9-11pm,         Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
This event takes place one day before a new moon, providing the opportunity to observe deep space objects, the Milky Way, and the planets Mars and Saturn. Meet at the Dune climb and park in the row furthest from the dunes with your headlights facing M-109.
 
 
NCMC’s 21st annual Cookout and 60th Anniversary Celebration,                                              Sunday, September 9th, 12-3pm
Come enjoy a picnic-style lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, chips and cookies, plus lots of kids activities, music by DJ Tim Roback, dancing, demonstrations and much more. Tickets are $8. Learn more at ncmich.edu
 
 
Family Day at the Music House, Sunday, September 9th, 12-4pm                                                  the Music House in Acme
Bring the family for a fun day at the Music House, including special family friendly tours and screenings of a short silent film complete with popcorn and games on the lawn. There will be special discounted admissions of adults $5, students $3 and a special family admission of $15. Children under 6 are free. Tickets for the event are available at the door.
