Scrimmages and Scarecrows, books and the Breezeway-the first weekend of Fall is packed with fun!

Hockey fans are headed to Centre Ice in TC to watch the Red Wings this weekend. The scarecrows are out in downtown Bellaire, you can celebrate the  joys of a good book in Harbor Springs, or take a color tour along the Breezeway! And Sunday, you have a chance to see if you could be a hot dog eating champ! 
 
Red Wings Training Camp, September 23^rd-28^th, Centre Ice Arena, Traverse City
Red Wings players, prospects & tryouts will be divided into teams that will practice & scrimmage throughout camp, including the annual Red and White Game on Sunday.  Tickets start at $10 and are available at centreice.org
 
23^rd Annual Harvest Festival and Scarecrow Extravaganza in downtown Bellaire, September 24^th and 25^th
Come stroll downtown to check out the scarecrows! There’s a farmers market and yard sale on Friday, a Halloween dress-up fun run/walk on Saturday, plus kids activities, pumpkin painting, bounce houses, a drink tent for the grown-ups, open mic contest, et parade and more! Harbor Springs “Festival of the Book”, September 24^th and 25^th
A celebration of readers, writers, books, & the literary craft. Featuring nationally-published authors & illustrators across eight genres, the majority of Festival sessions are held in venues in downtown Harbor Springs & are free to the public. 13^th Annual Breezeway Fall Color Cruises, Saturday, September 25^th
Color tour participants pick up goodie bags filled with trip tips, color tour maps, coupons & other surprises at Royal Farms Winery in Atwood between 10am-noon. Participants then proceed at their own pace along C-48 the Breezeway, stopping, shopping, dining or enjoying a nature hike at one of the three preserves along the route. Hot Dog Eating Contest at the Cheboygan County Fairgrounds, Sunday, September 26^th, 1pm
Are you the next hot dog eating champ? Find out this Sunday! Entry fee is $10, kids 12 and under are free. There will also be concession stands and live music at the event, which will benefit local restaurants.
