From Birdwatching to Bands, Art to Asparagus, Summer fun is in full swing this weekend!

Summer is finally here, and there’s so much to do! You can spend your weekend birdwatching in Leelanau, or Band watching in Petoskey! You’ll find unique art in Boyne City, and all kinds of Asparagus-themed fun in Empire. Then on Sunday, spend a day with the fairies!
 
 
Leelanau Birdfest, June 2nd-5th
Choose from ten different field trips, each featuring species such as warblers, tanagers, buntings, orioles & more. Special trips are planned to find Kirtland’s Warblers, Piping Plovers, Trumpeter Swans & other rare birds. With the exception of bus trips & the Sat. evening banquet, all field trips & events are included in your registration fee of $45. Downtown Petoskey Summer Celebration, Friday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 5th, 5-11pm
Friday night fun includes the Petoskey High School Steel Drum Band performing at 6pm, followed by Jeff Pagel at 7pm, & Charlie Millard Band at 8pm. Saturday the Blissfest band begins at 5, and Sunday, it’s the Rivertown Band at 5pm. There will also be a Movie in the Park at Dark each night.

Saturday, June 4th, 9am to 4pm, Boyne City Veterans Park

 2022 Empire Asparagus Festival, Saturday, June 4th, 10am-6pm
Fun includes the Kick-yer-Assparagus 5K Fun Run/Walk, a Recipe Contest in Township Hall, the Ode to Asparagus, and Asparagus Eats on Front St. with food vendors, local breweries & music. Find a complete schedule of events here.
  
A Fairy Fun Day and Competition, Sunday, June 5th, 1pm, Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park, Traverse City
See the artful fairy houses on the Fairy Trails at the Botanic Garden, made by people in the community, stop by the Pavilion to check out Heather Harrington’s new fairy/garden artwork, and sign up to build a fairy house.  Get details here.
