A Swirl and a stroll, plus great shopping and soups!

The first snowfall makes it feel like the holidays are really here…and there are so many festive ways to celebrate this weekend!

Start your weekend a little early, at the Holiday Swirl at the Crooked Tree Arts Center, in Petoskey, this Thursday from 5:30-7pm. Enjoy appetizers and mini sweet treats prepared by Spring & Porter, holiday tunes with Pete Kehoe and do a little shopping at the Holiday Bazaar. Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Get yours here.

Friday or Saturday you can enjoy a stroll through Leelanau State Park campground, lit with lanterns, Christmas trees & holiday decorations…accented with 3D glasses! End your tour at the Lighthouse and walk through the home of the McCormick family, decorated as it was back at Christmas in the 1920’s. Hear the pump organ & climb the tower for a night view of Lake Michigan. There will also be activities for kids & adults in the Fog Signal building. The event is from 4:30-7pm daily, admission is $5, and kids 5 under are free.

Saturday in Cadillac from 10 to 3 you can tour 4 unique homes representing the 1880’s to the present day, decorated by the Cadillac Garden Club. Tickets are available at Horizon Books or Brinks Art & Framing for $15 in advance…they will be $20 at door. You can get more details online at cadillacgardenclub.com

Saturday in downtown Bellaire, it’s time for the annual “Light Up the Night and Soup Cook-Off”! Events include a parade, scavenger hunt, soup tasting & contest, the annual tree lighting, a visit from Santa, kids crafts and more. Your $15 ticket includes 7 soups & bread. Get yours at the Bellaire Bar, Toonies, Corner Bistro, Short’s Brewing Co., Bellaire Library, Lakeview Shanty, or the Bellaire Chamber Office.

And finally, the Charlevoix Holiday Merchant Open House happens all day at businesses downtown… Featuring live entertainment, samples, snacks, sales, raffles and more! Stroll and shop, then warm up at the Hot Cocoa Contest from noon – 5pm. Just follow the trail to vote for your favorite hot cocoa!
