Enjoy a unique evening of music, and the Charlie Millard Band’s first performance at the Alluvion in Traverse City this Friday from 7:30-10pm Charlie, Will, and Jercat Millard have a style so unique and beautiful, it’s hard to put into words. Maybe you’re looking for a way to work off all those Christmas cookies? Come join a guided winter hike at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore! They have excursions planned on Wednesday, December 27th at 10am and 1pm, and Saturday the 30th at 1pm. Participants should meet at the Philip A. Hart Visitors Center in Empire, then the group will travel by car to the trailhead or area pre-selected for that day. Be sure to dress for the weather. These programs are free with a valid park entrance pass. Reserve your spot by calling 231-326-4700.
For those who want to ring in the New Year, but can’t stay up until Midnight, join the fun at the Crooked Tree Arts Center and Petoskey District Library from 5-9pm! Enjoy arts & crafts stations, musical performances, pottery & dance workshops, magic shows, silent disco, an acrobatic comedy show and more at the Crooked Tree Arts Center. Activities at Petoskey District Library and outside on the Bidwell Plaza include fire pits and s’more kits, chili from Parkside Deli, and the “Midnight at 9” ball drop on East Mitchell Street. All outdoor activities are free. Admission for indoor activities at CTAC is $10 adults & $5 children.
Or, stay up late to greet 2024 in Downtown Traverse City! Around 8-12,000 people are expected to gather on Front St. to ring in the New Year with a giant glowing cherry descending onto the city, followed by fireworks. This annual event has raised nearly $127,000 to date for local nonprofits…this year’s gate recipient is the Father Fred Foundation.
