Ice Fest, a hike and chocolate!

fun-5-winter-2
We might be short on snow, but there’s still a lot of winter fun to be had. The snow sculptures in Harbor Springs are always worth a visit. Or find a group of friends and hit the Frostbite Trail. Need a real hike? There is a beautiful one waiting for you at Sleeping Bear Dunes. And chocolate can be your reward!

The 6th annual Harbor Springs Ice Festival is Friday and Saturday in downtown Harbor Springs

Kick off your weekend Friday night at 6pm with trivia night at Stafford’s Pier Restaurant, followed by Hex your Ex Night at Pierson’s Grille. Featuring about 50 ice sculptures throughout Downtown Harbor Springs, along with the Dueling Chainsaws Show. Other attractions include an interactive ice park in Zorn Park with large sculptures that are perfect for photo ops & play, ice carving demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, & ice games for the kids.

Sunday, you can ski for a cause at The Highlands. It’s time to Ski Today for a Better Tomorrow. Enjoy this day of community appreciation by purchasing $15 lift tickets while supporting two amazing nonprofits in northern Michigan. All proceeds from lift tickets will go to Little Traverse Conservancy and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.

Get out and take a hike. Explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on a candlelit winter hike on Saturday, February 10 and Saturday, February 17 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Dune Climb. Arrive anytime between 6 pm and 7:30 pm to enjoy the full experience. You can hike one mile on flat terrain along a candlelit trail. If there is adequate snow, this will be a snowshoe hike. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes for the event. Snowshoes will also be loaned on a first-come, first-served basis. Luminaries will light the trail; however, visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight or headlamp and wear layers. ”
