Winterfest… and lot’s of other fests too!

It’s a big weekend for outdoor fun. The 3 day President’s Day weekend means there will be lots of visitors to the area and fun all over northern Michigan. Check out these events to make your weekend memorable!

 

In Downtown Petoskey, it’s time for Winter Wonderland Weekend, with events Friday through Sunday. Enjoy ice carving demonstrations, ice sculptures throughout the downtown area, downtown shopping and restaurant specials, a scavenger hunt through the downtown shops, and a downtown dollars shopping contest, all held within the boundaries of the Downtown Petoskey Social District. Back by popular demand. . . the Petoskey Chili Trail on Saturday, from 2:00 to 4:00. Over 16 downtown businesses will be participating this year. Each one will be serving their very own chili recipe which will be free for you to savor.

 

Start your weekend Friday night with one of Up North’s favorite bands, Jelly Roll Blues Band, Friday evening from 5-8pm at Pond Hill Farm. The Jelly will Roll on Friday February 16th at 5pm as they raise money for the Harbor Springs 8th Grade Class! Come get your dance on as you help out a great cause! The venue is a very cool heated tent.

 

If bourbons are your drink, don’t miss Traverse City Bourbon Fest, Saturday from 4-10pm at Visions Weddings and Banquets on Bay Shore Drive in TC.  Traverse City Bourbon Fest is an indoor bourbon festival featuring 100+ whiskeys and bourbons, store picks, classic cocktails and a high-end bottle section. Most of the list is bourbon but there will be a few non-bourbon options too. And there will be food trucks, live music, vendors, and more! Tickets at traversecitybourbonfest.com

 

It was postponed during the big snow, but it’s back for this weekend…Boyne Mountain’s 75th Anniversary Drone Show, Saturday starting at 9:15pm Witness hundreds of illuminated machines dance across the night sky, forming mind-bending shapes. This 21st-century spectacle is free and open to the public. Best viewed from the base area in front of Clock Tower Lodge.

 

And for the entire family, don’t miss Winterlochen, Saturday, 11am-6pm, at the Interlochen campus. Shake off the winter blues and join the students, faculty, and staff of Interlochen Arts Academy for their annual winter festival, Winterlochen. Bundle up for outdoor fun such as sledding and s’mores, then head inside for a variety of family-friendly arts exploration activities. Try out some musical instruments, learn the basics of acting, dance to live jazz, conduct the Arts Academy Orchestra, and more. The festivities culminate in a campus-wide parade to Corson Auditorium for a free, family-friendly performance showcasing the different art forms represented at Interlochen. This is a free event and no tickets required.
