The songs of spring, what a wonderful uplifting way to spend time this weekend. Northern Michigan Chorale (NMC) presents “Blooming with Song!” on Saturday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor. The spring concert, featuring popular music from Broadway, film, and the American Songbook, performed by this long-running community group. After winning the National Morel Hunting Championship five years in a row, Anthony retired from competitive picking to become the “Expert in Residence” for the National Morel Festival. Over the past twenty years he has continued to share his “Picking with the Champ” seminar at the festival and Michigan libraries. Learn some tips from Anthony on Saturday, 2pm at the Traverse City Library.
Ready for a loner? It’s Euchre tournament time for the Petoskey Senior Class All Night Party. $25 to get in. So grab a partner, bring a dish to pass and get ready for a night of fun cards. Saturday night, 6pm, Walloon Junction Bar and Grill.
It could happen in anyone’s backyard. And what would you do if it was your backyard? “The Smell of Money” is a David vs Goliath tale of one woman’s battle against one of the world’s largest pork companies to reclaim her right to clean air, clean water and to protect her beloved community. The evening is FREE to attend and will include tabling with local partners, food, a cash bar, and a guest panel discussion led by Carrie La Seur from FLOW after the film. The movie starts at 6pm at the Old Town Playhouse on Saturday evening.
