Memorial Day Fun…. 3 days to explore Northern Michigan

weekend-fun-5-summer

It’s time to celebrate the kick off of summer! And this weekend will not disappoint.  You’ll find farmers markets open, most wineries featuring entertainment, the beaches open and some events perfect to get your warm weather fun on the way.

It’s art and craft fair season and there are three this weekend to shop. Saturday is the Elk Rapids Craft Fair on River Street in downtown. The show runs from 10-4pm. Then hit up the Walloon Art and Craft Fair any day this weekend, Saturday thru Monday. It’s on the Village Green in Walloon Village and is open 10-5 each day. And then make your way to Cheboygan for the Made in Cheboygan Craft Fair, Saturday and Sunday from 10-4pm in Washington Park.

The sound of New Orleans comes to the Great Lakes Center for the Arts on Sunday with the Preservation Jazz Band. They have held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 60 years, all the while carrying it enthusiastically forward as a reminder that the history they were founded to preserve is a vibrantly living history. There are limited seats available for this show at GreatLakesCFA.org

Take a sunset cruise on the Little Traverse Bay Ferry, Saturday night at 7:30pm, leaving from the Petoskey City Marina.  Enjoy the sunset, a cocktail (cash bar on board) and kick off summer on the water. It can get chilly in the evening so don’t forget your jacket. Tickets are $37 a person and available at https://www.littletraversebayferry.org/

The Breezeway Garage sale is Friday and Saturday. 26 miles of garage sales on C48 starting in Atwood, to Ellsworth to East Jordan into Boyne Falls. You’ll find great buys and treasures all along the route. Watch for updates on their Facebook page here.
