Celebrate the beginning of summer with some free music and a beautiful view at Chateau Chantal on Friday night from 5-8pm. They are doing free shows every Friday throughout the summer. And this week, enjoy the music of Levi Cox.
Big Water Creative is a great organization that provides music education to kids, especially for kids who are not getting it at school. And they are having a fundraiser on Sunday, 4-7pm at Nubs Nob’s Wintergarden. Come out and support FREE music education in our area, and have a blast doing it! The event will feature live music from their student groups (jazz and rock), and will feature a set from the Charlie Millard Band, as well as a special set by BWCA co-founders Michelle Chenard & Pete Kehoe. There will be a fabulous silent auction, giveaways, food, a cash bar, and fun for the whole family. If you love cars and boats, don’t miss this weekend’s Bay Harbor Classic Car and Boat Festival, Saturday from 10-2pm. The Bay Harbor Classic Car & Boat Festival is a collection of the finest classic, future classic & rare cars and boats in the country. Free admission and parking are available for spectators. This year’s event will be celebrating the 35 Anniversary of The Viper, which has become iconic due to its styling and power. There will be a special showcase of Dodge Vipers and a salute to the all volunteer Team with founding Fathers Tom Gale (Design Vice President), Bob Lutz (Chrysler President) and other team members. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for car enthusiasts and fans of the iconic Viper to witness these amazing vehicles up close and personal. There are also many famous cars schedule to appear including famous cars of pop culture like the 1976 Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino, a 1912 Reo the Fifth, Demi Tonneau and 1909 Ford from the movie “Somewhere In Time”, Johnny Cash’s 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, and a fully restored 1968 Ford Mustang GT “Bullitt” reminiscent of the one driven by Steve McQueen.
Find your gloves and comfortable shoes and help clearn up the Bear River Saturday, June 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bear River Shelter in Petoskey. Join the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council for their Clean Waters Challenge: Healing the Bear. Sign up today to join their team to help preserve the beauty and health of the Bear River. Registration begins at 9:00, and there will be breakfast provided by Grain Train Natural Foods Market. You will clean up the river from 9:45 a.m. to noon, and then there will be a BBQ lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers can enter to win great prizes from Bearcub Outfitters. And if you’d like a few laughs, Ivan Decker is playing the Great Lakes Center for the Arts Saturday night, 7pm. His bio says Ivan is known for his sharp, polished, and multi-layered observational comedy, Ivan Decker continues to achieve success as a writer, stand-up, and actor. After being named “A Comic to Watch” at the New York Comedy Festival, Netflix then released his Comedy Special, “Underwater Scissors” to rave reviews. Ivan made his American television debut on “Conan” and his comedy album “I Wanted to be a Dinosaur” was the recipient of the JUNO award for “Comedy Album of the Year.” He can be seen and heard on the popular CBC radio program “The Debaters” and his newest special, “Popcorn,” was released on Valentine’s Day by 800 Pound Gorilla Media.
