After all the fun of the 4th, there are still ways to get out and enjoy the weekend. This is a weekend full of great music, parades, fireworks and art shows. So if you still have some energy after your 4th bash, check out of the offerings for the weekend.
Lots of great music this weekend including Jelly Roll Blues Band playing Friday night at Stroll the Streets in Boyne City, Jo Dee Messina at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts on Saturday night (tickets at GreatLakesCFA.org) and Revisiting Creedence Clearwater Revival at the John Hall Auditorium, also on Saturday evening. The Cherry Festival wraps up on Saturday with a huge day including the Cherry Royale Parade starting at 11:15 traveling down Front St to Union Street to 13th Street. End the evening with a great local show featuring the Accidentals and Joshua Davis on the Bayside Music Stage followed up with the Festival Finale Fireworks over the bay starting at 10:30.
Help out the Salvation Army and enjoy a great bike ride. Salvation Army’s Motorcycle Ride for the Red Kettle and Christmas in July are on Saturday, July 6. Bikers, register to embark on a scenic ride with friends while collecting pieces of a word puzzle game along your journey to win prizes. Prizes will be awarded during a grill out at the end of the ride. Don’t be surprised if you see red kettles and bell-ringers at various locations in Emmet, Charlevoix and Antrim Counties. If you like art and antiques, there are a couple of shows to hit this weekend. The Petoskey Antique Show, Sat July 6 and Sun July 7, 9-4pm, Emmet County Fairgrounds where you’ll find treasures and collectables. And Loon Days Art and Craft Show, Sat July 6 and Sunday July 7, 10-5pm in the Village of Walloon. Big Art loves displaying in Walloon, painters, sculptors, mixed media art, functional art and so many other interesting creations.
You can wrap up your weekend with a picnic and more free music as the Bayside Concert Series kicks off Sunday, July 7th, 5pm at the Waterfront, near the clock in Petoskey This free, family concert series kicks off with local favorite Michelle Chenard.
