Venetian, Flywheelers and Sidewalk Sales. Summer fun is all over NoMi this weekend.

weekend-fun-5-summer

This a weekend where you have so many choices for fun. It’s the big final weekend of the Venetian Festival, the annual Flywheelers show, and it’s Sidewalk Sales in downtown Petoskey. Summer is flying by, so don’t miss out on those Up North traditions.

The granddaddy of Sidewalk Sales is this Friday and Saturday with the 60th annual Downtown Petoskey Sidewalk Sales. The downtown merchants bring their merchandise out on the streets and you’ll find deals on everything from clothes to shoes, housewares to cooking supplies. Enjoy shopping, lunch or dinner in the many downtown restaurants or a cocktail in the social district. It’s shopping at it’s finest!

If you like brunch and adventures, perhaps start your day off on the water. You can sail and enjoy one of the most unique brunch experiences aboard Schooner Manitou in Traverse City! Their Brunch Sail starts at 10 am and sails until noon. It sounds like a great brunch with pastries, beverages and a meal prepared in their wood fired stove in the Manitou galley. Choose from a spicy Bloody Mary, Mimosa, Screwdriver, or non-alcoholic option to wash down that delicious fare.  Learn more about their weekend brunch at https://tallshipsailing.com/manitou/

It’s the big weekend of the Venetian Festival in Charlevoix. Friday starts off with the Block Party at noon on Bridge Street. The kids will love all the rides and the guys will love the car show. Then the air show and fireworks cap the evening. Saturday brings the parade at 11, carnival all day, the Charlevoix All Class Reunion at 12:30, then the boat parade and fireworks at dusk. There is great music each day including Friday night’s Iron of Rock and Pine River Jazz Band and Saturday’s Union Guns, Kenny Thompson, Mack Watts and Elton Rohn… and Elton John Tribute show. See the complete schedule at VenetianFestival.org.

Kids love tractors and trucks. And the Flywheelers is a great place to see history come alive. Their 37th annual show that is a family oriented event focusing on preserving the past for future generations is this Thursday thru Sunday. There is a large flea market, art and crafts demonstrations and sales, several blacksmiths, music on two different stages, a veneer mill and basket factory, saw mill, shingle mill and branding, grist mill, steam engine spark show, tractors, small engines, oil field engine light show, Kiddie Train, Kiddie Peddle Pull, Kid’s penny sawdust pile, a one-room schoolhouse, plus a Parade of Power every day at 2 pm. Get the complete schedule at walloonlakeflywheelers.com

And if you’d love to stroll a weekend art fair, you’re going to head to the Village of Walloon this weekend. Enjoy painters, sculptors, mixed media art, functional art and so many other interesting creations. This is the one all the fine artists love to attend! Hours are Sat July 27 and Sun, July 28, 10-5pm in the Village of Walloon
