The LTBHS located on West Conway Road, between Petoskey and Harbor Springs is a no kill shelter that helps find homes for over 500 dogs and cats each year. Cherryland Humane Society

Hello there, I’m Missy!
I may be a senior, but don’t let that fool you. I’m as curious as a kitten and just as playful. My spirit may be independent but I am always down for a good cuddle, belly rub, and chat. I’ve been working on my weight loss recently, and I must say, I’m feeling quite spry! Hopefully my new family will help me continue my health journey. I do also have arthritis, but it is managed thanks to medication. I have potential with cats, but large animals and dogs do make me uncomfortable. Children 12+ are best, younger kids can make me nervous. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend, a cute companion, and a playful spirit. I promise to fill your life with purrs, headbutts, and lots of love. Let’s make some memories together!

Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

TC PAWS

When Sissy’s owner died, she was found abandoned in his apartment. The family didn’t want her or her brother, so they came to a TC Paw foster home. We hope she finds her forever home soon so that she will be more comfortable. Sissy is a sweet, rather timid cat who just wants to be near you, to be petted, to sleep with you, and to be loved. She looks at you with her big brown eyes asking for a gentle rub. She starts purring if you just talk to her sweetly, and she rolls on her back and makes biscuits to get her belly rubbed. We have no idea what Sissy’s life has been like. She’s a gentle cat with no aggressive tendencies at all. In a quiet home with someone who will spend time with her, she will be the dearest girlfriend you could want.

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

From the Charlevoix Humane Society

This pretty lady is Janice, this girl isn’t just beautiful, she has the smarts to go with it! Janice found herself with us due to no fault of her own. We are still figuring out this sweet girl, but so far we know that she does well on walks, knows a couple basic commands and is very likely housebroken. Janice does not do well with other dogs and would have to be adopted into an only dog household. She has taken a walk around our cat room and seems alright with cats, but we are unsure of exactly how well she would do living with any. A home without small children would be best as Janice can be sensitive of her tail being touched.

The Charlevoix Human Society’s mission is to practice and promote the principle that every life is precious. As such, we are committed to the highest principles of humane care and professional treatment of injured, ill, neglected or abused animals. For more information on pets that are available for adoption or to donate, visit the shelter at 614 Beardsley Street in Boyne City or online at www.charlevoixhumane.org

 From AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

My name is Jack – Not Jumping Jack, Not Jack In The Box. I’m Jack Frost. I am almost 3 years old. I’m a neutered male, and my humans told me I was a chihuahua. I’m potty trained, fully vaccinated, and heartworm tested. I was adopted quite some time ago by a wonderful family that wanted nothing other than to have me stay with them forever… But I figured out, I really am a 1-person kind of dog. I’m going to miss my Mom so much – I was very attached to one special lady in my last home, and I think that’s why I need my very own human. I need a home that has lower activity, no children, other dogs or cats. That’s right. I’m looking for a unicorn home. The shelter team said they’d try again for me. Let me tell you about myself. I would say my body type is “a little more to love”, I get the most exercise when I’m vacuuming the floor looking for crumbs. I’m a foodie, I am a snuggler, and my love language undivided attention and affection from a kindhearted human. I would like to be your only dog – rather your only pet. In return I will offer you protection, snuggles, my floor cleaning services and lots of laughs. I’m really hoping there’s someone out there for me, if you want to visit me. Reach out to my friends at 989-348-4117 you can also email at AVASCares2@gmail.com. I’m here Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm.

From Cheboygan County Humane Society

Esmeralda is an estimated 5 year old Female mix dog. Esmeralda was illegally left here at the shelter so we have no background information on her. Esmeralda is a sweet girl who clearly had a family and is looking for a new family to love on. She seems to be great around children and people. Esmeralda has also interacted with other dogs a bit while here at the shelter and doesn’t seem to mind any of them. She is just out to live her best life possible and needs a family to do just that. Esmeralda has acted as though she may have had some house-training but will need a reminder on leash manners. Esmeralda is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines.

Esmeralda’s adoption fee is $150

Please visit their website at cheboyganhumanesociety.org. Or stop by the shelter at 1535 Hackleburg Road, Cheboygan. Call 231-238-8221 for more information. Shelter hours are Mon-Fri 9-4pm and Saturday noon-4pm.
