Fall is here and so are the fall festivals.

weekend-fun-5-summer

This weekend is the big switch, from summer events to fall festivals. Everyone is ready for a change, and this weekend has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the cooler days and fall events. The sun will be out, so take advantage of weekend full of fun.

Take the family and enjoy the East Jordan Fall Fest, Friday evening starting at 5pm and Saturday starting at 10am at the East Jordan Tourist Park. Wear your flannel, dance to live music, and partake in great food & drinks. There will be vendors selling all your fall favorites, co-ed softball & cornhole tournaments, arts & crafts, hay wagon rides, magicians, mechanical bull rides, & much more.

Another great fall festival is the Northport’s Leelanau Uncaged Festival, Saturday from 11a-10p.  This street festival includes multiple stages with music, art, dance & food. Featuring a Water Blessing, Opening Procession, live music by East Bay Drive, Sweet Rhubarb, Blind Dog Hank, Sierra Cassidy, Lipstick & Dipstick, Brett Mitchell, Song of the Lakes, & many others, performances by the Anishinabek Dancers & Singers, Folklorico, ALIGN, Traverse City Dance Project & many more, & kids’ activities. Complete schedule at leelanauuncaged.com.

There are also fall festivals Saturday in Elk Rapids, Glen Lake and Boyne City.

And if you like to dress up and have some adult fun Witches Night Out is  Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in downtown Petoskey. Don your best pointed hat and bring your friends for a night of witchy fun. If you have ever wanted to trick-or-treat as an adult, this event is for you. This Halloween-themed shopping night will consist of spooky games, food, drinks, and prizes through downtown Petoskey. Give a merry “trick-or-treat” at participating merchants and receive a treat.

If you’re looking for some theater, the Old Town Playhouse is doing their production of Waitress. Jenna, a waitress & expert pie maker, is stuck in a small town & a loveless marriage. She may have to abandon the dream of her own pie shop… until a baking contest & her new doctor offer her a recipe for happiness. You can see the show Friday or Saturday evening at 7 or a matinee on Sunday at 2. Tickets at OldTownPlayhouse.com.
