Hello, I’m Rascal, your new best friend. I may be a senior, but don’t let that fool you. I’m as playful and energetic as any kitten. My curiosity knows no bounds, and I love exploring every nook and cranny. I’m also quite the comedian. My goofy antics will keep you laughing all day. I’m smart, too. I’ve mastered the art of cuddling and know just when you need a furry friend to brighten your day. I’m gentle and brave, always ready for a new adventure. I’m loyal, too. Once I choose you, you’ll be my person forever. I do have some medical needs, so please ask my friends at the shelter about them. I promise, though, I’m worth it. After all, every home needs a little Rascal in it.
Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

TC PAWS

Look at that face! This little lady has had quite a story, and we want her to have a happy next chapter. When TC Paw picked up Genevieve and her two older male kittens, they had been strays for six months and were thought to have been left behind by their family. They shared their foster home with two resident cats and two dogs. Her foster family called her Genna and said she liked playing with toys, running and chasing housemates around, and batting the dogs’ fluffy tails. She enjoyed meals, treats, long naps, and snuggling. She was adopted in August but returned after several weeks when her new family needed her to sleep separately from them, and she scratched at the door, wanting in. She didn’t like having her nails trimmed. The vet suggested medication to calm her for her regular claw trims, which the family felt would be hard for her. They reluctantly made the decision to return her. We hope she gets another chance to be part of a loving family. Genna is a nice cat who will soon be curled up by your side purring. Her kittens, Simon and Garfunkel, are still available. Check their pages too on tcpaw.org

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

From the Charlevoix Humane Society

Meet Jett! Jett is a high energy dog who loves to play and run. He does well with other dogs, and he is afraid of cats. Jett still needs work with learning how to sit and lay down, and he will need to be trained not to jump on people. All in all, he’s a very sweet boy. If you’re interested in meeting Jett you can fill out an application in person at the Charlevoix Area Humane Society or online at charlevoixhumane.org!

 From AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hello! My name is Crystal. I’ve had a rough time and am looking for a home as an indoor/outdoor cat or a barn cat. Here’s my story: I was brought in by a woman trapping feral cats after a house fire, and I ended up at the shelter. They got me spayed and up to date on my shots, but I struggled to adjust to indoor life. It was really stressing me out!

I prefer being outside, but after I was released, I kept coming back and begging to go inside my finder’s house. She’s really worried about me, so the shelter is now trying to find me a home or barn situation where I can have regular meals and a warm place to sleep.

In the meantime, she’s been feeding me, and I love to follow her around and run up to her for attention. I’ve been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and I use a litter box—or do my business outside. I’m quite versatile!

If you have a place for me, please let the shelter know. They’d be happy to help relocate me to a safe and caring home. Thanks in advance! You can call them at 989-348-4117 or email at AVASCares2@gmail.com

From Cheboygan County Humane Society

Samson is approximately 3 years old. Samson is a small boy, weighing in at 35 pounds. Samson is also hard of hearing, we are not sure if he is fully deaf or just partially. Samson is a sweet boy, just big enough to be a great lap dog too! He does have energy, he loves to run around and play, interact, chase while forgetting to return some toys and be around people. He seems to love kids too! Samson doesn’t realize how loud he is with his bark but he means no harm, he doesn’t know any better. This poor boy was brought in as a stray whose owners never came for him and he needs a great family to show him the love and attention he needs. Samson does need work on training. Due to his hearing loss, this poor boy needs someone that will spend the time molding him to be the best dog he can be with training and cues that work for him. He may not here you but he does respond to vibrations. He is working on his leash manners but the workers and amazing dog walkers have been helping with that. It seems as though Samson doesn’t really care about other dogs as long as he gets the attention he wants but due to his arrival here at the shelter and the lack of history on him, we don’t know how Samson will do with cats. Samson is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines.

Samson’s adoption fee is $150

Please visit their website at cheboyganhumanesociety.org. Or stop by the shelter at 1535 Hackleburg Road, Cheboygan. Call 231-238-8221 for more information. Shelter hours are Mon-Fri 9-4pm and Saturday noon-4pm.
