If you’re ready to jump into Halloween fun, there is plenty to find this weekend. Find your costume, grab your friends or the kids, and get ready to trick or treat your way across northern Michigan. It’s spooky season and there are so many ways to get your boo on.
Jump into spooky season by walking through Traverse City’s Central Neighborhood. The folks in the Central Neighborhood are once again pulling out all the stops, so be sure to check out all the spiders, spooks, and friendly ghosts on display! From the merry to the macabre, you’ll find plenty of spine-tingling scenery to enjoy. Enjoy now through Halloween night. Central Neighborhood is between 6th and 12th Street and Union and Division Streets.
Dress up for treats at Halloween in Downtown Petoskey on Saturday. The Halloween Parade Line up at Central Elementary School beginning at 9:45 am. The parade will start at 10 am and march from Central Elementary down Howard Street to Pennsylvania Park in Downtown Petoskey. Then it’s trick or treating until noon at downtown stores. At dusk, it’s the fourth annual Jack O’ Lantern walk through in Pennsylvania Park! Bring your already carved or decorated pumpkin to Pennsylvania Park between 1 and 6 pm for a chance to win $50 in Downtown Dollars! The Jack O’ Lanterns will be lit at sunset for you to walk through and enjoy all night!
Bring your dog or cat and have some Halloween fun at the Back Lot in downtown Petoskey at the Dog Halloween Costume Party, Saturday from 2-4pm. Get your doggo and kitty costumes ready for the annual Costume Contest! Join a day of fun, furry friends, and fabulous outfits. Prizes for the best costumes, plus treats for all from the Pet Pantry. Don’t have a pet? No worries…Little Traverse Bay Humane Society will be on hand with some cute furry friends that need homes.
Things get spooky on Mackinac Island with the Haunted Halloween Trail and Maze at the Grand Hotel. Celebrate the Halloween season with a walk through the Hollowing Halls Trail and Maze – a 2,000 feet long haunted trail that meanders through the spectacular cedar grove. This experience is open to the public with just a $5.00 admission per person, all proceeds will be donated to Give Kids the World. It’s open Friday and Saturday from 6-10pm.
Fall means it’s harvest season at area wineries. And this weekend, you can hunt for the Reds of October on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. Enjoy red wines surrounded by the crisp and vibrant beauty of autumn in Northern Michigan, at the peak of fall colors. Ticket holders will receive a 2oz pour of red wine hand-selected by the wine makers themselves along with $10 in “cork cash” which can be used at any of the participating wineries!
