If you are looking for a new furry family member for your home, please consider adopting from one of our area shelters. There are thousands of pets each year in Northern Michigan who lose their family for one reason or another. Rescue is love!

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Hello everyone! My name is JK and I am a super handsome 8 month old hound. I just recently came up from Tennessee in hopes of finding myself a new forever home. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application and come on in to spend some time with me. I hope to meet you soon!

Hello, I’m Broski. I may look a little rough around the edges, but I’m a friendly boy, always ready to share a purr or a cuddle. I’m known for my sweet disposition, and I’m quite sociable too. I enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like a good nap in a cozy corner, or a gentle stroke from a kind hand. I’m quite the conversationalist, if you’re into that sort of thing. But what I truly desire is a forever home, where I can share my love and companionship.
Something you need to know about me is that I am FIV+ which is an immune compromising virus. Regular vet care is essential for me and with proper management FIV+ cats will live long, healthy, happy lives. I do have potential to live with a cat savvy dog with proper introductions as well as a calm quiet cat savvy cat that I can co exist with.
Adopt me, and let’s create a bond that only a pet and their human can understand.
Cherryland Humane Society is a private, no kill animal shelter servicing Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. We are an independent, 501-C, non profit organization. CHS is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, estates, planned giving, memorials and occasional grants for operation. Visit our available pets online at cherrylandhumane.org

TC PAWS

Olive and her siblings were found behind the Burrow restaurant in Traverse City. In their TC Paw foster home, she was hesitant and didn’t like physical contact, but now that she trusts her foster family and feels safe, she loves pets and head scratches and even seeks them out. She is beginning to sit on laps, but she still doesn’t much like being picked up unexpectedly and held. Olive has adorable markings and is very expressive with her white tipped tail! She loves her wet food, and she’s good at searching for treats and would enjoy living with a family that gives her food puzzles. She also likes spring toys and playing with her brother. Olive has come out of her shell in foster care. She’ll thrive in a home with patience, gentle love, and encouragement. She is very rewarding to work with.

Olive’s sibling is Cheddar. Check out his page too.

TC Paw Cat Rescue was formed in the Spring of 2023 after the well-known northern Michigan rescue group AC PAW retired their rescue program for cats and dogs. Their mission is helping cats and kittens in the greater Traverse City region through rescue, spay/neuter, fostering, adoption, education and community collaboration.

From the Charlevoix Humane Society

Hola! My name is Pallo, pronounced PAH-Low, and I am quite pleased to make your acquaintance! I love people but may be stand-offish at first. I know how to sit but I’m not sure of much else. I don’t much care for playing ball but I’ll let you pet me until your heart’s content and will lean in to get all the love you can give. I do well with other dogs my size but I’m very skeptical of animals smaller than myself. Cats? Never heard of them. I do pull a bit on my leash but with a little patience, I know I can be a very good boy on a walk. Give me a chance and I’m sure I’ll make you proud!

 From AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

Hello, Hello! That’s right… WE said it twice, because WE come as a pair – isn’t that nice! I’ll tell you all about me first! My name is Jack, and I am a neutered male, 6-year-old Great Pyrenees/Border Collie Mix. I’m handsome, and I have the personality to match it. I’m a giant love bug. I love to run and play – mostly with my sister – but true to my breed makeup, I love to be outside, and I

love to please my humans. I am potty trained, and I walk well on the leash. I tend to have no problems with humans or other dogs. And did I mention that I’m handsome?

Now, about my sister, Carly! She’s a 1-year-old spayed female, Bernese Mountain Dog. She’s not quite as mature as me, but she keeps me young every day. Like me, Carly loves humans and other dogs, but she’s usually more in a hurry to be silly than to please people. We play really well together and are more than siblings—we’re best

friends and all each other hasEarlier this year, we found our way to the animal shelter when our human passed away unexpectedly. She gave us a great start to our lives, and we know it will only get better from here. We would probably do well living with other dogs (provided we get to meet them first), and as long as we’re properly supervised – we’d probably do well with kids.

If you’d like to come meet me and my sister – we are at the shelter Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. If you have questions about us, email AVASCares2@gmail.com or call 989-348-4117. See you soon!

From Cheboygan County Humane Society

Dozer is an 11 month old puppy. Dozer came to us with another dog so we are sure that he likes other dogs and with a proper introduction would do fine with cats too. Dozer does love his toys and he loves people too! He is still working on manners as he came in as a stray with no background and no training. Dozer needs a family that is willing to give him the time to learn and adapt, a family looking to give him the human contact he desperately needs. Dozer is the happiest boy, all the time. He loves everyone and everything he comes in contact with. Dozer doesn’t mind kids, especially those that can respect the fact he is still a puppy and is still learning. His puppy energy scares kids sometimes but he truly means nothing by it. He loves to run, play and enjoy being a puppy. Dozer would do great with a family that wants to exercise, walk, hike and explore with him. Dozer is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines.

Dozer’s adoption fee is $175

Please visit their website at cheboyganhumanesociety.org. Or stop by the shelter at 1535 Hackleburg Road, Cheboygan. Call 231-238-8221 for more information. Shelter hours are Mon-Fri 9-4pm and Saturday noon-4pm.
