As you plan your Thanksgiving Dinner, plan on a visit to the Harbor Springs Farmers Market inside the Museum on Saturday Nov 23 from 9-1pm. The Harbor Springs Farmers Market moves inside for a pre-Thanksgiving market at the Historical Society. Find things for your dinner, a great hostess gift or Christmas presents. Some of your favorite summer vendors will be there!
Some people are so hard to buy a gift for. So check out the Brother Dan’s Handmade Holiday Craft Show, Saturday, Nov 23 from 9-4pm at the Emmet County Fairgrounds. You’ll find unique gifts from local vendors offer handmade items for sale. Admission is $2 or a non-perishable food item and the best part? It all benefits the Brother Dan’s Food Pantry.
Get your ho ho ho one with the The Tree Lighting, Santa’s Arrival and Light Parade in downtown Traverse City! The tree lighting will take place at Cass and Front Street. The light parade will follow the route of Front street until Union. The parade will begin after the Santa helps the mayor light the tree and will feature downtown businesses and community partners who decked out their floats, musical performances, and all of the lights to enjoy! The community is invited to participate and enjoy the parade by filling the sidewalks and wearing all of their light up accessories! Make sure to visit Santa at his house after the light parade. His house will be at the Rotary Square on the corner of State and Union. All the festivities kick off around 5:30 on Saturday evening.
If you’re looking for an evening of interesting music, check out the Celtic Christmas in Charlevoix. The concert will feature a “wonderful wintry mix” of traditional Irish music, plus all the great holiday standards. Also included will be a selection of songs from SWITCHBACK ‘s award-winning catalog of over 300 original tunes which have been described as “breathtaking scenery for your ears.” The show will take place on Sunday, November 24 with doors open at 7 p.m. and the band taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on 101 State St, in downtown Charlevoix. Tickets are just $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets will go on sale starting November 1 on the band’s website www.WayGoodMusic.com/tickets. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the church office, Tues-Thurs, 9a-3p. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Charlevoix Agency on Aging Home Delivered Meals Program.
And if you prefer jazz and blues, don’t miss Thornetta Davis Saturday night at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey. Thornetta Davis is an honored and respected singer of the blues from Detroit and talented songwriter. She proudly wears the official crown of “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues,” possessing a glorious musical past and representing an active and thriving musical present. The show starts at 7:30.
