Celebrate the season at Downtown Petoskey’s Holiday Open House on Friday, December 6. Light the Christmas tree with Santa at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy a festive evening of hospitality hosted by all your favorite stores. The Petoskey High School Steel Drum Band will make their annual appearance along with visiting local nonprofits. It’s always a fun night and will put you in the Christmas spirit!
It’s also holiday open house time in Charlevoix all day Saturday. Shop your favorite local stores, enjoy the hot cocoa contest from noon til 4pm on the Cocoa Trail, take the kids to see The Grinch for free at the Charlevoix Cinema at 10:30, or run in the Hot Cocoa Run at 11am. And then Saturday night, head to Harbor Springs for a night of fun and holiday shopping. Main and State Streets will be closed so you can stroll between stores and enjoy a relaxing evening of tradition. Special music by the Petoskey High School Steel Drum Band will be sponsored by Nub’s Nob Ski Area. Come be a part of a wonderful local tradition this season and celebrate the holidays in Harbor Springs!
The kids need their time, so put Sunday on your calendar at Camp Daggett. S’Mores With Santa is at Camp Daggett on Sunday Dec 8, from 1-3pm. Families & children are invited to visit Camp Daggett for an afternoon of festive activities! Meet and get a photo with Santa Claus, enjoy a winter scavenger hunt, decorate cookies, write letters to the North Pole, explore the campus, and indulge in s’mores and hot cocoa around a cozy campfire. Dress for the weather! This event has several outdoor components. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are always welcome. No registration is required.
If you’re looking for something a little quieter, maybe a book fair is more up your alley. Holiday Book Fair is Sunday Dec 8th at The Mercato at the Villages of Grand Traverse. Highlights of the event include 12 booths featuring the works of regional authors, along with live music by author and musician Bob Downes. Authors will provide 10-minute presentations that may include readings from their books or topics of their choice. Food and beverages – alcoholic and non-alcoholic – will be available for purchase throughout the Mercato.
