Strings do Coldplay… you do snow. There’s so much to do this weekend.

weekend-fun-5-new

This is a fun weekend…. for outdoor activities from snowshoeing to sledding. Or stay indoors and enjoy some unique musical offerings. It’s a great time to savor the quiet of being Up North, without the crowds!

We haven’t had great snow the past couple of years… but this year, it’s time to hit the trail and snowshoe. And one of the most anticipated snowshoe events is this weekend. Camp Daggett’s Torchlit Snowshoe Event hosted by Bearcub Outfitters is Saturday nights, January 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can experience the beauty of Camp Daggett’s snow-covered trails, illuminated by torchlight as you snowshoe through campus. After your adventure, warm up in the lodge with hot cocoa and cookie. And if you don’t have snowshoes, this is your chance to try it out. Bearcub Outfitters will be on hand with snowshoes for anyone who needs them. And don’t miss the Bearcub Outfitters raffle for a chance to win some exciting prizes. This event is free, and no RSVP is needed, but donations to Camp Daggett are always appreciated.

The best part of sledding is zooming down the hill. The worst part… climbing back up the hill. But what if the firemen towed you and your sled back to the top? That’s what you’ll find this weekend at Sledding and S’Mores, Saturday  January 25th from 4-6pm. Bring your sled to Kiwani’s Park in Harbor Springs for sledding, rides up the hill from the fire department, food, hot cocoa and s’mores around the bonfire. Great way to spend the afternoon with the family. And the price is perfect for the whole family… it’s free!

Ready for something totally different? How about an opera about Julia Child? It’s of course called Bon Appetit! The show is Friday night, 7:30pm at Alluvion on 8th Street in Traverse City. How do you do an opera about Julia? Interlochen’s Mezzo-Soprano Alta Boover Dantzler and pianist Susan Snyder serve up a scrumptious buffet of operatic works. The program’s main course is Bon Appétit!: An Opera About Julia Child, a one-act opera by Lee Hoiby that offers a delicious comedic take on Child’s popular television show, The French Chef. Dantzler and Snyder round out the menu with a selection of opera songs—all performed while Dantzler cooks live on stage. A feast for ears, nose, and soul, this one-of-a-kind performance is sure to leave you asking for seconds. Expect a delectable mix of Julia Child’s famous chocolate cake recipe and musical treats that blend drama, humor, and culinary artistry! Get tickets at Interlochen.org

This event promises to create a captivating experience that highlights the emotional depth and artistry of Coldplay’s catalog.
